How Method IT Helped Prettys Solicitors Appease Regulators and Secure Cyber Essentials Certification
Long-standing client Prettys Solicitors required Cyber Essentials certification to appease regulators and insurers. As their cyber security partner and a Cyber Essentials Certification Body, Method IT was the obvious choice to help.
Challenge
As a result, Prettys needed someone who had a solid understanding of their underlying IT infrastructure and the ability to guide them through the process. Despite Method having that knowledge, there were issues that needed to be resolved.
Solution
Method IT completed a GAP analysis of Pretty’s existing cybersecurity measures and explained to stakeholders where the issues lay. We highlighted which policy requirements were missing for Cyber Essentials certification and how they could be best addressed.
This included deploying technical controls and a series of system enhancements to meet compliance. Finally, we helped them complete the questionnaire and submit it for review.
Results
Prettys passed their assessment at the first time of asking. Further, they realised Cyber Essentials certification was much more than a box-ticking exercise—it had a positive impact on the day-to-day running of the business.
As a result, Prettys asked Method IT to proactively monitor their Cyber Essentials certification on a monthly basis. Not only will this guarantee ongoing compliance, but it will also make the annual renewal process significantly easier.
Finally, Prettys have requested we upgrade them to Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
